RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Approve, and authorize the Director of Public Works to execute, the attached Contract Change Order Number 2-Supplement 1 for Contract Number 217207 (Post Mile 36.06) for the total amount of $20,758.26 (4/5 Vote Required);
2. Accept the completed contracts, including all change orders approved by the Public Works Department, between Wahlund Construction, Inc., and Humboldt County for construction of Storm Damage Repairs to Mattole Road (F3C010) Post Miles 36.06 and 36.16; and
3. Approve the final claims for payment, as submitted by the Public Works Department to the Auditor/Controller, in the amount of $20,758.26 for Post Mile 36.06 and $280.00 for Post Mile 36.16, which will bring the total amounts paid to 100 percent of the contracts.

DISCUSSION:
On March 7, 2017, the Governor of the State of California declared a disaster for Humboldt County due to severe winter storms, flooding, and mudslides. Mattole Road (F3C010) Post Miles 36.06 and 36.16, near the city of Ferndale in the southwestern portion of Humboldt County, experienced roadway settlement and shoulder failure. Emergency temporary repairs were performed at the time of the disaster to maintain essential traffic.

On Nov. 19, 2020, and Nov. 26, 2020, the Humboldt County Department of Public Works ("Public Works") received Federal Highway Administration funding approval to proceed with the Mattole Road (F3C010) Post Miles 36.06 and 36.16 Storm Damage Repair Project.
