RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Approve, and authorize the Director of Public Works to advertise and distribute, the attached request for qualifications regarding the provision of professional design engineering services for the Garberville Complete Streets Project and the Redway Drive/Redwood Drive Intersection Highway Safety Project.

Road Fund (1200), Federal Highway Administration Highway Safety Improvement Program, California Transportation Improvement Program and California Active Transportation Program

DISCUSSION:
The Humboldt County Department of Public Works ("Public Works") has been awarded state grant funding under the California Regional Transportation Improvement Program to design and implement traffic calming and pedestrian safety features along Redwood Drive in the community of Garberville. The overall goal of the Garberville Complete Streets Project ("Garberville Project") is to improve, retrofit and reconstruct existing sidewalks and roads within the project area in accordance with the California Complete Streets Act, in order to provide safe and convenient travel by all users, including, without limitation, pedestrians, public transit, bicyclists and motorists. Public Works has completed a master plan for the Garberville Project that included community input obtained through stakeholder walkthroughs and workshops.

Public Works has also been awarded federal grant funding under the Highway Safety Improvement Program to design and implement traffic calming and pedestrian safety features for the intersection of Redway Drive and Redwood Drive in the comm...
