RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Accept the completed contract, including all change orders approved by the Public Works Department, between McCullough Construction, Inc., and Humboldt County for construction of Pine Hill Road over Swain Slough Bridge No. 04C-0260; and
2. Approve the final claim for payment, to be submitted by the Public Works Department to the Auditor-Controller, in the amount of $187.50, which will bring the total amount paid to 100% of the contract.

DISCUSSION:
The Pine Hill Road over Swain Slough Bridge No. 04C-0260 project replaced an existing bridge located in the southern vicinity of Eureka, 0.20 miles east of Elk River Road. The existing bridge was built in 1955, with timber girders and concrete deck, and became eligible for replacement on July 22, 2009, as indicated in the bridge inspection report prepared by California Department of Transportation. The new single span bridge utilizes precast concrete "I" beams to minimize impacts to Swain Slough. The roadway approaches to the bridge were raised and widened in anticipation of future sea level rise and will accommodate pedestrian and bicycle use.
On Nov. 29, 2022, the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors authorized the Clerk of the Board to advertise Pine Hill Road over Swain Slough Bridge No. 04C-0260 for bids. On Jan. 10, 2023, the County of Humboldt received six responsive bids for the project. On Feb. 7, 2023, the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors awarded the project agreement to McCullough Construction, Inc., the lowest responsive bidder.
