RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Approve the grant agreement #23-10315 with CDPH in an amount up to $903,260 for the term of October 1, 2023, through September 30, 2026;
2. Authorize the Director of Public Health or designee to sign the attached grant agreement #23-10315;
3. Authorize the Director of Public Health or designee to sign any subsequent amendments and documents directly related to the grant agreement #23-10315 upon approval by County Counsel and Risk Management; and
4. Direct the Clerk of the Board to return one (1) copy of the certified board report to the DHHS - Contract Unit for transmittal to DHHS - Public Health.

DISCUSSION:
The County of Humboldt has been working with CDPH on nutrition education and physical activity programs since 2006. CDPH administers a portion of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) funded Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program - Education (SNAP-Ed), known in California as the CalFresh Healthy Living program (CFHL). The CalFresh Healthy Living program offers a comprehensive public health approach that enables partners to work together to prevent obesity and serve California's individuals and families with low incomes. The target audience for CFHL is SNAP participants and other low-income individuals or families whose income is at or below 185 percent of the Federal Poverty Level.
