RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Adopt the attached resolution authorizing the Humboldt County Department of Public Works to accept grant funding made available by the California Department of Transportation for development of the Humboldt Bay Trail Planning Study: Eureka to College of the Redwoods; and
2. Direct the Clerk of the Board to return a fully executed certified copy of the attached resolution to the Humboldt County Department of Public Works for submission to the California Department of Transportation.

DISCUSSION:
On June 25, 2021, the California Department of Transportation announced an award of Two Hundred Eighty-Five Thousand Dollars ($285,000) of grant funding made available through the Sustainable Transportation Planning Grant Program to the Humboldt County Department of Public Works for development of the Humboldt Bay Trail Planning Study: Eureka to College of the Redwoods project. Redwood Community Action Agency was a sub-applicant for this proposal and will be a partner on the implementation of the project. The project will develop a plan to increase mobility options, and reduce the potential for conflicts between bicyclists, pedestrians and vehicles within the Highway 101 corridor, between Eureka and College of the Redwoods.
