RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Approve, and authorize the Chair of the Board to execute, the attached SafeMeasures Medi-Cal Administrator Designation form;
2. Approve, and authorize the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Director or a designee thereof to execute any subsequent documents related to the Memorandum of Understanding after review and approval by County Counsel and Risk Management; and
3. Direct the Clerk of the Board to send a fully executed copy of the attached agreement to the DHHS - Contract Unit for further processing.

DISCUSSION:
In October 2015, the California Legislature passed SB 238 which required the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) to develop and distribute a monthly report to each county placing agency that is signatory to a specified data sharing agreement, and to include information regarding each child for whom one or more psychotropic medications have been paid for under Medi-Cal. In order to facilitate an efficient process for these reports, the National Council on Crime and Delinquency, Children's Research Center now includes Medi-Cal Pharmacy Paid Claims for Psychotropic Medications in its SafeMeasures data analytic and case management platform.

SafeMeasures will include Medi-Cal pharmacy paid claims data for psychotropic medications matched against data in the Child Welfare Services/Case Management System (CWS/CMS) for each dependent child (or ward) 0-17 years-old in out-of-home cases on psychotropic medication in their county.
