RECOMMENDATION(S):

Recommendation

That the Board of Supervisors:

1.                     Consider making an appointment to the Forestry Review Committee.

DISCUSSION:

At the Feb. 27, 2024, Board of Supervisors meeting, the Board was notified that there was an At Large vacancy on the Forestry Review Commission due to the resignation of Chris Carrol.  The vacancy was posted, and applications solicited.

 

This would be an appointment for the remainder of the term ending on June 30, 2026.

 

All current applications are included, and all applicants have been notified of the date of this appointment agenda item.

 

All appointed members will be required to comply with the California Fair Political Practices Form 700 requirements as well as completing AB1234 Ethics training every 3 years.

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

There is no financial impact to making an appointment to a volunteer advisory committee.

 

STRATEGIC FRAMEWORK:

This action supports the following areas of your Board’s Strategic Framework.

 

Core Roles:  N/A

New Initiatives:  Advance local interests in natural resource discussions

Strategic Plan:  2.4 - Foster healthy forests, wildlife, and watersheds, thereby creating healthy fish population, through responsible management of our forest lands and watersheds

ALTERNATIVES TO STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS:

The Board could postpone the appointment but that is not recommended.  This is the second recruitment for the At Large position and there are two applicants that meet the qualifications.
