RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Ratify the Local Emergency Proclamation issued by the Humboldt County Sheriff/Director of Emergency Services dated March 22, 2024, due to a significant landslide and imminent failure of Centerville Road;
2. Forward a copy of this Proclamation to the Director of the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services requesting that Director Cal OES find this Proclamation acceptable in accordance with State law and forward this Proclamation to the Governor of the State of California for consideration and action on Humboldt County's requests; and
3. Designate Ryan Derby, Emergency Services Program Manager, or his representative as the authorized representative of the County of Humboldt for the purpose of receipt, processing, and coordination of all inquiries and requirements necessary to obtain available State assistance.

DISCUSSION:
Due to the imminent threat posed to life, safety and property resulting from the ongoing landslide at Fleener Creek/Centerville, Sheriff Honsal issued a Local Emergency Proclamation on March 22, 2024. The slide has been progressing over the past several weeks and is now threatening to impact the primary ingress/egress route to multiple residents, multiple ranches, and Bureau of Land Management recreational areas. This is a clear threat to the safety of our residents and will require immediate protective actions to ensure safe routes of travel are retained, and access to hazard areas are limited.
