DISCUSSION:
The Board of Supervisors would like to send a letter of appreciation to Justin McDonald and Julia Sullivan for their service on the Humboldt County Fire Safe Council.
Justin McDonald, Chief, Arcata Fire Protection District, was the Humboldt County Fire Chiefs' Association (HCFCA) from April 2021 through October 2023. Justin is transitioning to new duties under the Association. He was an active member of the Humboldt County Fire Safe Council (HCFSC) and an invaluable resource for implementing the Fire Protection Action Plan of the Humboldt County Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP). Justin provided extensive support for programs aiming to address the sustainability and effectiveness of the local fire and rescue service and played an important role in developing the annual HCFCA Annual Report.
Julia Sullivan, Forest Health Watershed Coordinator, was the Humboldt County Resource Conservation District representative on the HCFSC from February 2022 through August 2023. Julia was exceptionally helpful in facilitating the process of developing several successful collaborative forest heath and fire prevention grant proposals. The projects that she helped secure funding for are helping to implement the Wildfire Preparedness and Restoration of Beneficial Fire action plans of the CWPP.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
There is no financial impact to sending a letter of appreciation for service on this Council.
