RECOMMENDATION(S):

Recommendation

That the Board of Supervisors:

1.                     Discuss adherence to appropriate rules of conduct and behavior during Planning Commission Meetings;

2.                     Direct staff to develop a “Code of Conduct” and “DEI” policy for all Humboldt County Boards and Commissions;

3.                     Consider censure of Planning Commissioner Alan Bongio, and

4.                     Take other appropriate action as necessary.

DISCUSSION:

The Board will be discussing inappropriate conduct, behavior and comments made by Humboldt County Planning Commissioner Alan Bongio during several Planning Commission meetings, while emphasizing the importance of developing a “Code of Conduct and DEI” policy for all Humboldt County Boards and Commissions.

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

Developing a Code of Conduct and a DEI policy for Boards and Commissions, performing periodic updates and modifications, providing ongoing training and potentially enforcement will result in an increased workload for existing staff and may require additional professional services.

 

STRATEGIC FRAMEWORK:

This action supports your Board’s Strategic Framework by protecting vulnerable populations. Further, this action embraces the principles of diversity, equity and inclusion among all residents in Humboldt County.
