RECOMMENDATION(S):

Recommendation

That the Board of Supervisors:

1.                     Authorize the Chair to sign the letter of support.

Body

SOURCE OF FUNDING

Behavioral Health Continuum Infrastructure Program Grant

DISCUSSION:

The Board of Supervisors would like to send a letter of support to the Department of Health Care Service for Sorrell Leaf Healing Center’s application for the Behavioral Health Continuum Infrastructure Program (BHCIP) grant.  This funding would allow Sorrell Leaf Healing Center to acquire, construct and rehabilitate real estate assets or to invest in mobile crisis infrastructure to expand the community continuum of behavioral health treatment resources.  Sorrell Leaf is closer than ever to breaking ground at their Eureka location and this facility would be the nearest pediatric mental health facility within 200 miles of Humboldt County.  It is for this reason that we offer support for Sorrell Leaf’s application.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

There is no impact to the General Fund.

STRATEGIC FRAMEWORK:

This action supports your Board’s Strategic Framework by providing community-appropriate levels of service and protecting vulnerable populations.
