RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Accept a donation in the amount of $52,121.17 from The Diane George and Catherine L. Webber 2005 Revocable Trust to support the Humboldt County Animal Shelter; and
2. Authorize the Sheriff to sign the Receipt of Distribution (Attachment 1).

DISCUSSION:
The Diane George and Catherine L. Webber 2005 Revocable Trust is making a donation in the amount of $52,121.17 in support of the Humboldt County Animal Shelter. The donation is a conditional gift in that no part of this donation may be used in any manner for the euthanasia of animals.
If accepted, the Animal Shelter plans to use the gift to replace dog kennels due to wear and tear, purchase equipment that would help with the care and safety of animals when handled by animal control officers and reserve the remaining amount for any unanticipated budget increases for food, supplies, and spay and neutering costs due to inflation.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Funding was not included in the Fiscal Year (FY) 2022-23 Recommended Budget that came before your Board on June 28, 2022 and will require additional budget appropriation to be included in budget unit 1100221700 in the Final FY 2022-23 Budget presented for adoption.
The Final FY 2022-23 budget will include an adjustment to revenue object code 707012 Donations to receive the $52,121.17 donation and the equivalent amount to expense object code 2123 Special Departmental for future purchases. There is no additional impact to the general fund.

ALTERNATIVES TO STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS:
The Board of Supervisors may choose not to accept the donation, however, that is not recommended as it would negatively impact the amount of funds dedicated to the Animal Shelter.
