RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Approve and authorize the Chair of the Board to execute the First Amendment to Lease for 404 H Street, Eureka;
2. Ratify and Authorize the Probation Department to submit a one-time payment of $132 for increases in janitorial fees; and
3. Direct the Clerk of the Board to return one (1) executed original of the lease to Public Works Real Property for transmittal to the Lessor.

DISCUSSION:
On Aug. 18, 2020, your Board approved a lease for the Community Corrections Resource Center (CCRC) to continue operations at 404 H Street, Eureka to serve adults on probation with an array of rehabilitative and correctional program services. Included in the lease is a monthly fee for janitorial services in the amount of $884 (Attachment No. 1 - Lease).

Beginning Dec.1, 2021, monthly janitorial fees increased to $928, representing an increase of $44 (Attachment No. 2 - North Coast Cleaning Services Letter).

Attached is the proposed First Amendment to Lease that authorizes payments of monthly janitorial fees in the amount of $928, effective March 1, 2022, with a one time-payment of $132 to cover the increases for the months of Dec. 2021, Jan. 2022, and Feb. 2022 (Attachment No. 3 - First Amendment).

FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Monthly Janitorial fee increases in the amount of $44 effective Dec. 1, 2021, represents an increase of $924 (21 months) for the duration of the lease term ending on Aug. 30, 2023. These costs have been included in the budget for fiscal year 2021-22 in Probation Realignment (3741294).
