RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Receive an update on the status of the project to upgrade the audio/video equipment in the Board Chambers and provide teleconferencing capabilities during live Board meetings; and
2. Open the Board Chambers to in-person meetings with a hybrid option beginning March 1, 2022.

DISCUSSION:
On Dec. 14, 2021, your Board received an updated report on the status of the project to upgrade the audio/video equipment in the Board Chambers and efforts to pursue a hybrid option during live Board meetings.

Since that time, staff continued to work with Access Humboldt, County Administrative Office - Information Technology Division, Public Works - Facilities Maintenance, and Stewarts Communications to push forward the project to completion.

The following is a recap of the completed work to date:

1. The sound system has been upgrade in the chambers
2. New TV monitors have been installed in place of the old Smartboards
3. One additional camera has been installed to facilitate better optics during meetings
4. Stewart Communications has installed all of the necessary cables and wiring to connect all of the above equipment
5. The new tricaster necessary to connect our Granicus signal to Access Humboldt which allows for streaming and TV broadcasting of live board meetings has been installed and tested
6. Training for Clerk of the Board/Planning staff on the new "Vote Cast" software has been completed and training for Board Members is scheduled for early February


FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The financial impact to the General Fund is approximately $49,000 in equipment and materials, and is paid out of the Board of Supervisors budget (1100-101).
