DISCUSSION:
The Board wishes to proclaim September 2021 as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Childhood cancer research only receives 4% of the money raised for research in the United States even though it is the leading cause of death by disease in children between infancy and age 15. Organizations such as St. Jude’s and Cookies for Kids Cancer give 100% of the money raised directly to treating and curing the many types of childhood cancer. The Board would like to encourage Humboldt County citizens to support and bring awareness to childhood cancer.
