RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Approve the amendment to the service agreement with Everbridge, authorizing an automatic annual renewal of services; and
2. Authorize the Chair of the Board of Supervisors to sign the Amendment to Service Agreement and any extensions, modifications or amendments.

DISCUSSION:
The Humboldt County Sheriff's Office of Emergency Services (OES) is responsible for disaster preparedness and response and Homeland Security coordination within the county and the Humboldt County Operational Area.
A robust mass notification system is a critical resource for rapidly disseminating emergency information to the public via phone and email. The Everbridge system has proven effective in recent years, notifying residents of power outages, extreme weather, evacuation orders and other critical, life-saving information. The Everbridge system allows for two-way communication between the Sheriff's OES and message recipients (Humboldt County residents). Subscribers to the system can voluntarily register disabilities, medical issues that may require specialized evacuation assistance, and other access and functional needs. These features contribute to a much more comprehensive response during times of crisis and ultimately contribute to decreased human impacts such as injury and loss of life during an emergency.
Approving the amendment to the service agreement with Everbridge will allow the Sheriff's OES to maintain a robust mass notification system and provide Humboldt County residents with critical information in a timely and efficient manner.
