RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Declare two (2) vehicles surplus;
2. Authorize the sale of vehicles to City of Ferndale Police Department; and
3. Deposit the revenue from the sale in the Motor Pool Fund.

DISCUSSION:
The following vehicles have been replaced after being fully depreciated and instead of going into the surplus auction, the Public Works Department wishes to direct the sale of these vehicles to the City of Ferndale Police Department to replace their aging patrol vehicles.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Revenue from the sale of the surplus vehicles will be deposited in the Motor Pool budget (3500-351) and used to offset the purchase of replacement vehicles. The revenue covers the salvage value of each vehicle at $2,500 each. Total revenue of $5,000 was included in the proposed fiscal year 2021-22 budget.

City of Ferndale Police Department
ALTERNATIVES TO STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS:
Your Board could choose not to authorize the sale of surplus vehicles to the City of Ferndale Police Department and authorize the vehicles be placed in a surplus auction. However, this is not recommended as directing the sale to the City of Ferndale Police Department is a benefit to community safety.
