DISCUSSION:
Six Rivers (6RF) National Forest Supervisor Ted McArthur will be briefing the Board of Supervisors and the community about the US Capitol Christmas Tree Project and how the county is involved and how others can get involved as well.

The US Capitol Christmas Tree is a national project at the behest of the Architect of the Capitol, and with deep roots and very high visibility in both the executive and legislative branches of government. Since 1970 the Forest Service has been tasked to provide the large tree which graces the West Lawn of the Capitol, as well as (up to 130) companion trees for congressional and some executive branch offices, and the ornaments and skirts needed to decorate these trees - all handmade by state residents, and to carry the tree cross state and cross country, engaging the public and educating them about the area and their public lands, all ending in a week of events celebrating the tree in DC.

The theme this year is 'Six Rivers, Many Peoples, One Tree' - showcasing our region and its diversity in order to connect people across the United States and California to the National Forests and especially the 6RF and community, to form and strengthen community partnerships with the diversity of peoples in surrounding counties, and ultimately to demonstrate unity in diversity and inclusion across America.
