RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Approve Agreement Number 2021-19 (Attachment 1) between the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) of the United States Department of Justice;
2. Authorize the Chair of the Board, Undersheriff or Deputy Director Sheriff's Administration to sign Agreement Number 2021-19 (Attachment 1) and to execute all necessary contracts and agreements and amendments thereto, in the name of the County of Humboldt, and all other certifications, assurances, or documents required by the Department of Justice for this grant program;
3. Authorize Sheriff William Honsal to execute any and all agreements for the Domestic Cannabis Eradication/Suppression Program, if County Counsel and Risk Management have reviewed and approved in advance. This authorization shall remain in effect during the term of office and any subsequent terms of office for Sheriff William Honsal; and
4. Approve the supplemental budget (Attachment 2) for Sheriff Operations Domestic Cannabis Eradication/Suppression Program Grant (DCESP) budget unit 1100-221930 in the amount of $394,000 (4/5 vote required).

DISCUSSION:
Each year the DEA makes funding available to reimburse agencies for certain expenditures related to the eradication of marijuana in local jurisdictions. HCSO has received notice of approval for $394,000 for the period of Oct. 1, 2020 to Sept. 30, 2021.
