RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Accept the completed contracts, including all change orders approved by the Public Works Department, between Van Meter Logging, Inc., and Humboldt County for construction of Storm Damage Repair to Alderpoint Road (6B165) Post Miles 41.45, 43.55, 46.15, and 46.23; and
2. Approve the final claims for payment, as submitted by the Public Works Department to the Auditor/Controller, in the amounts of $180 for Alderpoint Road (6B165) Post Mile 41.45, $385.02 for Alderpoint Road (6B165) Post Mile 43.55, $324.43 for Alderpoint Road (6B165) Post Mile 46.15, and $342.79 for Alderpoint Road (6B165) Post Mile 46.23, which will bring the total amounts paid to 100 percent of the contracts.

DISCUSSION:
On March 7, 2017, the Governor of the State of California declared a disaster for Humboldt County due to severe winter storms, flooding, and mudslides. Alderpoint Road (6B165) Post Miles 41.45, 43.55, 46.15, and 46.23, located in the Bridgeville area of eastern Humboldt County, experienced roadway, embankment, and bridge approach damage. Emergency temporary repairs were performed at the time of the disaster to maintain essential traffic.
On Sept. 19, 2019, and Nov. 7, 2019, the Humboldt County Department of Public Works (Public Works) received funding approval from the Federal Highway Administration to proceed with the Alderpoint Road (6B165) Post Miles 41.45, 43.55, 46.15, and 46.23 Storm Damage Repair Project.
