RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Authorize the Chair to sign the letters of appreciation.

DISCUSSION:
The Board of Supervisors have been notified of three members of the Fire Safe Council that are resigning from their positions. The Board would like to send letters of appreciation and express their well wishes on their future endeavors. The members are as follows:

Ian Sigman was one of the original members of the HCFSC when it was formed in 2002. He has been the longstanding Chair of the HCFSC, guiding the group through many meetings and keeping the group focused on the agenda and needed action. Ian was also involved in assisting with the original draft and every subsequent update to the Humboldt County Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP); particularly helpful with the maintenance and implementation of the Mattole-Lost Coast CWPP Planning Unit Action Plan. Ian helped to provide an important link between the activities of the countywide FSC and the Lower Mattole FSC and the Honeydew Fire Department. He was the first district representative.

Barbara Darst, as the long time Vice-Chairperson of the Humboldt County Fire Safe Council, provided backup to Ian and deftly lead meetings and made sure the group stayed on time. Barbara was and is a strong leader within the Willow Creek FSC and provided many good examples of community-based wildlife mitigation action to the other members of the HCFSC. She was a huge support for each update of the Humboldt County CWPP, particularly the Willow Creek Area CWPP Planning Unit Action Plan. She worked hard to use the Unit Action Plan and their own local Willow Creek Area CWPP to guide real progress on the ground....
