DISCUSSION:
The County of Humboldt Workforce Development Board [HC-WDB] provides oversight of Humboldt County’s comprehensive workforce development system consisting of workforce,
education and training, workforce preparation services, regional research, and economic
development. As authorized under WIOA, Section 107, membership
of the HC-WDB is established to be composed of at least 19 members or more representing various industry sectors including business, labor and community organizations.
Two member seats have become vacant on the Humboldt County Workforce Development Board. The first vacancy is for a member who represents a Private Business Staffing Sector. The second is for a member who represents a Non-Profit Providing Employment and Housing services. A “Notice of Vacancy” per the Board’s protocol dated April 1, 2014, has been posted.
The next Workforce Development Board meeting is scheduled for Feb. 12, 2021 and the following would be March 18, 2021. Unless the Clerk of the Board is notified, not more than three days prior nor more than seven days subsequent to the date of this meeting, of a desire to calendar this matter for further discussion, any Board member may bring forward an item to appoint any qualified person to fill this vacancy. Under the terms of the Maddy Act, the soonest date on which an appointment may occur is January 12th, 2021.
