RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Accept a donation in the amount of $20,000.00 from The Carol Davis Family to support the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue Team; and
2. Approve the attached supplemental budget (Attachment 1) to receive the donation in budget unit 1100-221530 Search and Rescue to purchase equipment to support the Search and Rescue efforts by the Posse and Sheriff Deputies (4/5 vote required).

DISCUSSION:
The Carol Davis Family has donated $20,000.00 in memory of their mother Carol Davis. In April 1990, Ms. Davis was involved in a small airplane accident in the mountainous region of Humboldt County. The Humboldt County Search and Rescue Team (SAR) made up of Sheriff Deputies and community volunteers, was instrumental in locating and rescuing survivors of this accident. Ms. Davis and her family have been grateful to the SAR Team all these years and have provided support in the past. Ms. Davis requested in her will to provide this additional support to the SAR Team.
The Humboldt County Sheriff's Office offers their condolences to The Carol Davis Family for the passing of their mother, Carol Davis, and appreciation for this generous donation to help SAR acquire needed equipment to help support their efforts to protect Humboldt County residents.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
A supplemental budget is requested to SAR budget unit 1100-221530 to receive the $20,000.00 donation to purchase equipment to aid in search and rescue efforts. There is no additional impact to the general fund.
