DISCUSSION:
The county contracts with Shaw/Yoder/Antwih/Schmelzer and Lange, Inc. (SYASL) to provide state legislative advocacy services on behalf of Humboldt County and to advise county departments on the development of the county’s annual legislative platform. Staff members from SYASL visit the county to review for your Board the progress on the county’s legislative goals and consult with department heads on the following year’s platform.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
There is no cost for hearing the presentation. Costs for legislative advocacy services are included in the adopted budget for fiscal year 2020-21.
STRATEGIC FRAMEWORK:
This action supports your Board’s Strategic Framework by advancing local interests in natural resource discussions , providing community-appropriate levels of service, and seeking outside funding sources to benefit Humboldt County needs.
