RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Waive the requirements of the Humboldt County Nuclear-Free Ordinance with regard to the attached software license agreement with NetMotion Software, Inc.;
2. Approve, and authorize the Chair of the Board to execute, the attached software license Agreement with NetMotion Software, Inc. regarding the provision of virtual private network licenses for the period of September 2, 2020 through September 1, 2023;
3. Authorize the Information Technology Director, or a designee thereof, to execute any and all subsequent amendments to the attached software license agreement with NetMotion Software, Inc., after review and approval by County Counsel, Risk Management and the County Administrative Office - Management and Budget Team; and
4. Direct the Clerk of the Board to return one (1) fully executed original copy of the attached software license agreement with NetMotion Software Inc. to the County Administrative Office - Information Technology Division for further processing.

DISCUSSION:
Since 2015, the Humboldt County Administrative Office - Information Technology Division has utilized virtual private network ("VPN") licenses provided by NetMotion Software, Inc. ("NetMotion"). The VPN licenses provided by NetMotion allow for easy, reliable and secure remote network access and improve telework capabilities. The majority of laptops issued by the County of Humboldt already have the Netmotion VPN application installed and employees are familiar with its use.
