RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Direct the Registrar of Voters to conduct the general municipal election and special election for City of Trinidad;
2. Consolidate this election with the Presidential General Election to be held on November 3, 2020;
3. Direct City of Trinidad to reimburse the County of Humboldt for costs incurred pursuant to Resolution No. 2020-10 and Resolution No. 2020-11; and
4. Request the Clerk of the Board forward the signed Board Order and copy of City of Trinidad Resolution No. 2020-10 and Resolution No. 2020-11 to the Humboldt County Office of Elections.

DISCUSSION:
On June 23, 2020 the City of Trinidad passed Resolution No. 2020-10 and Resolution No. 2020-11 for the purpose of electing certain officers and for the purpose submitting to the electors a sales tax measure in the amount of three-fourths of a cent and subject to approval of 50%+1 of the votes cast by the qualified electorate. Further, Resolution 2020-10 and Resolution 2020-11 request the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors consolidate the municipal and special elections with the Presidential General Election to be held on November 3, 2020, directs county election officials to conduct the necessary election, and states that City of Trinidad agrees to reimburse the county for all costs associated with the special election should election.

The question to be submitted to the voters shall read:

"Shall a 3/4 cent transaction and use tax be continued in the City of Trinidad for four years, starting on April 1, 2021."
