DISCUSSION:
On Mar. 7, 2017, the Governor of the State of California declared a disaster for Humboldt County due to severe winter storms, flooding and mudslides. Alderpoint Road (6B165) Post Miles 41.45, 43.55, 46.15 and 46.23, in the Bridgeville area of eastern Humboldt County, experienced roadway, embankment and bridge approach damage. Emergency temporary repairs were done at the time of the disaster to maintain essential traffic flows.
On Sept. 19, 2019, and Nov. 7, 2019, the Humboldt County Department of Public Works ("Public Works") received Federal Highway Administration funding approval to proceed with the Alderpoint Road (6B165) Post Miles 41.45, 43.55, 46.15 and 46.23 Storm Damage Repair Project. Public Works subsequently prepared the attached plans and specifications for the project, which includes constructing a rock buttress, regrading and stabilizing the roadway with geogrid, installing crash cushions, constructing gabion for shoulder stabilization and sediment and erosion control items.
Accordingly, Public Works recommends that the Board of Supervisors approve the attached plans and specifications and advertise the Alderpoint Road (6B165) Post Miles 41.45, 43.55, 46.15 and 46.23 Storm Damage Repair Project.
