RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Accept the completed contracts, including all change orders approved by the Public Works Department, between William Gray Construction and Humboldt County for construction of Storm Damage Repairs to Wilder Ridge Road at Post Mile 5.33 & 5.70; and
2. Approve the final claims for payment, as submitted by the Public Works Department to the Auditor-Controller, in the amounts of $292.07 for Post Mile 5.33 and $404.12 for Post Mile 5.70, which will bring the total amount paid to 100% of the contracts.

DISCUSSION:
On Feb. 14, 2017, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) declared a disaster for Humboldt County due to severe winter storms, flooding, and mudslides. Wilder Ridge Road Post Miles 5.33 and 5.70, in the Honeydew area, experienced embankment failures that caused the roadways to fail.

On May 21, 2018, and Aug. 15, 2018, the Department of Public Works (Public Works) received funding approval from FEMA to proceed with the Wilder Ridge Road Post Miles 5.33 and 5.70 Storm Damage Repair Projects. Public Works subsequently prepared plans and specifications for the projects based on topographic surveys of the damaged areas that were prepared by Points West Surveying Company. The work consisted of constructing a stabilization trench at Post Mile 5.33, realigning the roadway at Post Mile 5.70, reconstructing the roadways with aggregate base, placing hot mix asphalt, and placing sediment and erosion control measures.
