DISCUSSION:

They City of Eureka and the Betty Kwan Chinn Homeless Foundation, with support from private funders, have been ready to house up to forty homeless individuals since 2017 on a piece of city owned property located within the Coastal Zone.  They City of Eureka has worked hard to make the necessary adjustments to the Crowley Site and have approved their Local Program amendments that make it possible to create housing at this location.

The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors would like to send a letter of support to the North Coast District California Coastal Commission Manager, requesting that they expedite the proposed Crowley Site and “Q” Qualified Combining Zone District Text and Local Coastal Program Amendments which will provide housing to those in dire need.  It is a community effort to assist the most vulnerable population in our community.
