RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Receive and file the bids for the Juvenile Probation Division Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Modification Project;
2. Award the project to the lowest responsible and responsive bidder, Lucchesi Builders D.B.A. Pacific Builders; and
3. Authorize the Purchasing Agent to sign the construction agreement with Lucchesi Builders D.B.A. Pacific Builders in the form of the attached sample agreement subject to approval from County Counsel and Risk Management.

DISCUSSION:
On April 15, 2019, the County of Humboldt entered into a consultant services agreement with Nichols, Melburg & Rossetto, AIA & Associates, Inc. (NMR) to design ADA improvements in the Juvenile Probation Division. The scope of work at the Juvenile Probation Division, located at 2002 Harrison Ave., Eureka, CA, includes the following items: renovation of the existing unisex restroom located on the main level, redesign of the lobby service window, design of an alcove for an accessible high/low drinking fountain on the main level, enlarge one door to the conference room on the main level, redesign handrails on the staircases, redesign the path of travel at the main entrance by replacing the landing at the public door, re-grading the sidewalk in front of the juvenile probation building, and design of an accessible pathway from the sidewalk to the door landing at the public entrance.
