Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Adopt Ordinance No. _____, Amending Sections 421-1 through 421-7, Relating to Stop Signs in the Shelter Cove Area; Amending Section 431-2, Relating to Accessible Parking Spaces for Persons with Disabilities in the Redway Area; Amending Sections 431-21.5, 431-52, 431-63, 431-65, 431-86.5 and 431-109, Relating to Parking Restrictions in the McKinleyville, Loleta, Samoa, Cutten and Eureka Areas; Adding Section 431-61.2, Relating to Parking Restrictions in the Hydesville Area; and Amending Section 435-3, Relating to Bicycle Lanes in the Hoopa Area, of Title IV of the Humboldt County Code.

DISCUSSION:
On Feb. 4, 2020, the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors introduced the above-referenced ordinance for adoption with a directive to the Clerk of the Board to publish a pre-adoption summary of the ordinance and set the ordinance for adoption on Feb. 11, 2020. The recommended action will complete adoption of the ordinance and result in publication of a post-adoption summary.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Adoption of the above-referenced ordinance will require the creation and installation of regulatory signs and striping in the relevant locations. The estimated cost associated with manufacturing and installing the required regulatory signs and striping is $10,000, which is covered by the Road Fund. As a result, adoption of the attached ordinance will not impact the Humboldt County General Fund.
STRATEGIC FRAMEWORK:
The recommended action supports the Board of Supervisors’ Strategic Framework by providing for and maintaining infrastructure.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
California Highway Patrol
ALTERNATIVES TO STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS:
The Board may choose not to adopt the Ordinance No. _____. However, this alternative is not recommended since it would not improve traffic safety in the relevant locations.
