Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Receive the report as required by ordinance. No further action is necessary.

DISCUSSION:
Pursuant to Section 9121-10 of the Humboldt County Code, the Probation Officer shall provide to the Board of Supervisors a written report stating the number of detentions that were solely based on civil immigration detainers (if any) by no later than January 1, 2020.
The report shall address the following issues for the time period covered by the report:
(a) A description of all communication received from the federal agency charged with enforcement of the federal immigration law, including but not limited to the number of civil immigration detainers, notification requests, and other types of communication.
(b) A description of any communications the department made to the federal agency charged with enforcement of the federal immigration law, including but not limited to any department's responses to inquiries described herein.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:
There is no financial impact to receiving this report. Staff estimates that roughly $470 in staff time was spent preparing this report. There is sufficient funding in Probation budget units to cover this cost, and there is no additional impact to the General Fund.
