RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Approve the changes in hours of operation due to the Thanksgiving Holiday for the Humboldt County Library (HCL), as specified in Attachment I, to accommodate for early closure of the HCL on November 27, 2019.

DISCUSSION:
Historically, the HCL experiences a reduction in public demand on days prior to an official holiday. Therefore, in anticipation of the Thanksgiving 2019 holiday season, the library requests that the Board of Supervisors approve a shift in hours of operation. All HCL branches that are scheduled to close after 5:00 pm on Wednesday, November 27, 2019, will adjust their open hour’s schedule, by opening earlier for public use. The permanent staff will work their regularly scheduled number of hours on Wednesday, November 27th. This will allow the HCL to close all branches at 5:00 pm, the day before the holiday.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Approval of the shift in open hours would not impact costs for the Library.
