RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Approve, and authorize the Department of Health and Human Services - Mental Health Director, or a designee thereof, to execute, the attached participation agreement with California Mental Health Services Authority regarding Humboldt County Department of Health and Human Services - Mental Health's participation in the North Valley Suicide Prevention Hotline Program for the period of July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2020; and
2. Authorize the Department of Health and Human Services - Mental Health Director, or a designee thereof, to approve any and all subsequent extensions, modifications and amendments to the attached participation agreement with California Mental Health Services Authority after review and approval by County Counsel, Risk Management and the County Administrative Office.

DISCUSSION:
The North Valley Suicide Prevention Hotline Program ("NVSPH Program") will be administered by the California Mental Health Services Authority ("CalMHSA") on behalf of participating counties. As part of the NVSPH Program, CalMHSA will oversee and manage the operation of a suicide prevention hotline accredited by the American Association of Suicidology that will answer calls through participation in the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. Based on participant interest, additional activities, including, without limitation, participation in the statewide Common Metrics program and expansion of the hotline's ability to answer calls in other languages, may be added to the NVSPH Program.
