DISCUSSION:

Supervisor Rex Bohn would like to discuss the formation of a Humboldt County Climate Advisory Committee. This committee would be composed of engaged public members concerned with climate change. This committee would make focused recommendations to the Board of Supervisors on various climate action items including issues related to transportation, agriculture, green building, forest management and health, and other specific climate concerns. The Supervisors could then use this information to further guide efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, adapt to global climate change, and increase community involvement in climate change preparedness.  The work of this committee may be informed by and aligned with local knowledge, current research and science, and planning resources such as, but not limited to; the Humboldt Climate Action Plan, the Humboldt Bay Sea Level Rise Adaptation Planning Project, the Humboldt County Community Wildfire Protection Plan, the North Coast Integrated Regional Water Management Plan, and the California Forest Carbon Plan.
