DISCUSSION:
Humboldt County was named for Alexander Von Humboldt who was a scientific revolutionary whose exploration became building blocks for natural science, ecology and humanitarian justice. Von Humboldt’s 250th birthday is September 14, 2019. It will be marked locally by a community collaboration at Eureka’s Sequoia Center entitled “Planet Humboldt - A Summit of Inspiration”. This event will include activities and discussion ranging from service efforts, governmental planning, and infusing traditional and emerging businesses to education, art and human nature. The Board of Supervisors encourages the citizens of Humboldt County to celebrate September 14 and to manifest the vision of Humboldt’s name sake for “more vibrant communities, deeper service to humanity, and an ever-more verdant Earth”.
