RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Approve and accept the Research Subaward Grant Agreement from Humboldt State University Sponsored Programs Foundation for training and supervision of California Social Work Education Center (CalSWEC) Title IV-E students in the amount of $50,000;
2. Authorize the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Director, or a designee thereof, to execute the Research Subaward Grant Agreement and future Subaward Grant Agreements from the Humboldt State University Sponsored Programs Foundation substantially in the form of the attached Research Subaward Grant Agreement after review and approval by County Counsel, Risk Management, and the County Administrative Office; and
3. Direct the Clerk of the Board to forward a certified copy of the Board agenda item to the DHHS-Contract Unit.

DISCUSSION:
Humboldt State University's (HSU) Department of Social Work provides a Masters of Social Work (MSW) Program for Social Worker students. The Department of Health and Human Services has partnered with HSU in support of the MSW Program through an in-kind contribution. This contribution has been used as a partial match to the HSU MSW Program funded through federal Title IV-E funds. The services provided to the MSW program include field instruction to teach and supervise the interns placed in the Social Services Child Welfare Division as well as administrative and clerical support and coordination. HSU is no longer required to find an in-kind match to Title IV-E funding for the program.
