Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Approve the attached Fiscal Year 2018-19 supplemental budget for budget unit 294 to increase the appropriation of Contribution City of Arcata line item 3214. (4/5 vote required)

DISCUSSION:
On March 20, 2019, the Arcata Police Department (APD) presented a proposal to the Humboldt County Community Corrections Partnership (HCCCP) Executive Committee asking for funding to cover travel, lodging and registration costs for 25 local women, from 10 local law enforcement agencies, to attend the 2019 Women Leaders in Law Enforcement Symposium (WLLE). HCCCP voted to recommend funding for this item.

The WLLE Symposium will be held in Santa Clara, CA this year and will offer 14 workshops conducted by subject matter experts in their fields covering a wide range of topics such as: maximizing social media, fair and impartial policing, leading for influence etc. The mission of WLLE is to bring together law enforcement professionals in a supportive and empowering environment so that attendees can receive training that addresses both the unique set of skills women in law enforcement possess and the unique challenges they encounter. The proposal covers symposium registration, lodging, and meals for all 25 local participants.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The supplemental budget will increase the appropriation in the Probation realignment budget unit 294, line 3214 Contribution City of Arcata, by $28,250.
