DISCUSSION:
The Board of Supervisors is writing a letter of support to the California Department of Parks and Recreation and the National Park Service for funding of a new Redwood National and State Parks Visitor Project being proposed for a site in Orick.
This new project would create a world-class state-of-the-art visitor center and interpretive experience welcoming visitors to Humboldt County and showcasing our redwood trees. This project would also benefit the economy of Humboldt County by providing restoration and recreation-based jobs for the local communities and increase revenue from visitation to Redwood National Parks.
