RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Receive and file the bid proposals received for Pedestrian Safety Crossing Project;
2. Award the contract to GR Sundberg, Inc., for the total amount of $176,838;
3. Authorize the Chair of the Board to execute the project agreement upon submittal of the appropriate bonds and insurance; and
4. Direct the Auditor-Controller to establish a new contract account 1200321-0338 Pedestrian Safety Crossing and transfer $221,048 from 1200321-2118 to the new contract account per the attached appropriation transfer.

DISCUSSION:
On Feb. 26, 2019, the Board of Supervisors authorized the Clerk of the Board to advertise the above-referenced project for bids. On April 2, 2019, the county received two bids for the project, and the results are attached.

The Department of Public Works recommends that the Board of Supervisors receive and file the bid proposals, award the contract to GR Sundberg, Inc., authorize execution of the project agreement, and set up the capital contract account.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:
This project is being funded through the Federal Highway Administration Highway Safety Improvement Program, which will provide 100 percent of the project costs. The engineer's cost estimate for the construction contract is $134,866. Total project cost is estimated at $221,048. Funding will be reallocated from the budget line 1200321-2118 Professional & Special Services to 1200321-0338 Pedestrian Safety Crossing. This project will not impact the General Fund.
