RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Approve, and authorize the Chair of the Board to execute, the attached First Amendment to the Professional Services Agreement with the University of California, Davis (UC Davis), increasing the amount payable from $136,000 to $195,000 in order to add a supervisory training series for FY 2018-19; and
2. Direct the Clerk of the Board to route the fully executed amendment to the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) - Contract Unit for further processing.

DISCUSSION:
DHHS-Social Services has been contracting with UC Davis for the provision of federal- and state-required annual training since 1990. On July 10, 2018 (Item C-13), your Board approved the current agreement with UC Davis to provide eligibility training for DHHS-Social Services eligibility workers.

The amendment appearing before your Board today provides an additional 14 units over the current fiscal year, for a supervisory training series for DHHS employees on-site at DHHS-Social Services. Training offered by UC Davis is developed for, and directly relevant to, the needs and issues facing staff employed in the eligibility division of DHHS-Social Services. The agreement with UC Davis has proven to be a reliable and cost-effective source of training that meets DHHS' needs.

Accordingly, DHHS-Social Services recommends that the Board of Supervisors approve and authorize the Chair of the Board to execute the first amendment to the agreement with UC Davis to provide supervisory training for DHHS employees.
