That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Authorize the Chair to sign the Resolution; and
2. Forward an executed copy of the Resolution to the California Department of Fish and Game.

DISCUSSION:
The abrupt and early closure of the Dungeness Crab season has the potential to create devastating economic harm and local seafood insecurity. As such, the Humboldt Fisherman’s Marketing Association and the Trinidad Bay Fisherman’s Marketing Association is urging the Board of Supervisors to pass a resolution in full support of the Local Dungeness Crab Fishery and then forward that Resolution to the California Department of Fish and Game, expressing their willingness to work together with the local fishing community and legislators to protect the local fishing economy, marine mammals and ocean habitat.
