DISCUSSION:
Pursuant to Section 30301.2 of the Public Resources Code, Governor Gavin Newsom is currently requesting additional nominations of a least one Board of Supervisors Member and one City Council Member for appointment to the California Coastal Commission for the seat requiring a representative from the North Coast Region. Nominations must be received by the Office of the Governor within 45 days from the date of the attached letter dated March 22, 2019.

As you may recall, the Board previously considered nominations for the Coastal Commission seat at their February 26, 2019 Board Meeting and sent a letter to the Office of the Governor in support of the nominations of Brett Watson, Mayor of the City of Arcata and Eureka City Council Member, Natalie Arroyo. The Governor declined to make an appointment of any of the submitted nominees and is now requesting additional nominations for consideration.
