Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Authorize the Chair of the Board to sign the attached letter expressing Humboldt County’s statement of interest for membership in the Eel River Forum.

DISCUSSION:
The Eel River Forum was convened by California Trout in 2013, as a coalition of public agencies, Indian tribes, conservation partners, and other stakeholders with interest in or responsibility for the environmental stewardship of the Eel River. The charter for the Eel River Forum (Attachment 1) specifies that organizations can petition for membership by providing a statement of interest for vote by the forum members. Public Works recommends that the Board of Supervisors authorize the Chair of the Board to sign the attached statement of interest (Attachment 2) requesting consideration for membership in the Eel River Forum.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Today’s recommendation will not impact the Humboldt County General Fund. The cost to the county is estimated to be less than $500.00 annually, the Water Management budget unit will have sufficient funds to support staff participation in Eel River Forum meetings, which are typically quarterly.

This action supports your Board’s Strategic Framework by building interjurisdictional and regional cooperation and advancing local interests in natural resource discussions.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The Eel River Forum includes various federal, state, tribal, and local agencies.
