RECOMMENDATION(S):

Recommendation

That the Board of Supervisors:

1.                     Approve the extension of extra-help hours for Danielle Anderson, Administrative Analyst I, to 1920 hours through June 30, 2019.

Body

SOURCE OF FUNDING

Grant funding from Vesper Society

DISCUSSION:

First 5 Humboldt, an independent Children and Families Commission, currently coordinates its Adverse Childhood Experience (ACEs)/Resilience Project using an extra help position, funded by Vesper Society, an operating foundation dedicated to the promotion of health and social justice. The position is responsible for coordinating with community organizations and conducting special projects related to the prevention of ACEs and the promotion of resilience. We have experienced increasing requests from the community for the ACEs/Resilience coordinator’s time and are in the process of finalizing additional funding from a second funder to create a full-time position. Until that time, we are requesting an extension of the extra help hours for Danielle Anderson.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

There is no financial impact to the County General Fund.  Funding is provided by Vesper Society.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:

None.

ALTERNATIVES TO STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS:

The Board could chose not to extend hours. However, this is not recommended due to staffing levels and the workload.
