RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Direct County Department Heads and/or county staff to track county expenses within the MCSD area boundaries for a minimum of 12 months and report back to the Board of Supervisors with their findings.

DISCUSSION:
McKinleyville is located in the 5th District of Humboldt County. As the representative for the 5th District, Supervisor Madrone is requesting the Board of Supervisors consider directing County Department Heads and/or county staff track county costs within the MCSD boundaries, separate from other county costs. The financial data could then be shared with the McKinleyville community at large and would allow for a more informed discussion about the potential for incorporation.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Unknown at this time, however this may cause additional work for county departments that do not track by district boundaries. Staff costs are included in the current fiscal year budget and will be included in future fiscal year budgets.
