DISCUSSION:

The County Department of Health and Human Services, Public Health, Division of Environmental Health (DEH) requested the purchase of one (1) Ford Fusion Sedan. Purchase of the vehicle was included in the fiscal year (FY) 2017-18 County Budget, budget unit 1175-406.  The FY 2017-18 County Budget was adopted by your Board on June 21, 2017 (item C-11).  For the purposes of capitalization, maintenance and insurance, DEH would like to donate the vehicle to County Motor Pool.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

Expenditure appropriation for this vehicle and County Motor Pool costs were included in the approved FY 2017-18 budget for DEH, budget unit 1175-406.  There is no anticipated County General Fund impact.

STRATEGIC FRAMEWORK:

This action supports your Board’s Strategic Framework by managing our resources to ensure sustainability of services that protect vulnerable populations.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:

County Motor Pool

Human Resources - Risk Management

ALTERNATIVES TO STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS:

The Board may choose to not approve this donation; however DEH does not recommend this alternative because it requires the division to make arrangements for maintenance and insurance that can be more efficiently and economically provided by County Motor Pool and Risk Management.
