RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Accept the completed contract, including all change orders approved by the Public Works Department, between Central Striping Service, Inc., and Humboldt County for construction of High Reflectivity Striping Project on Freshwater Road at Post Mile 0.0 to 3.0 and on Kneeland Road at Post Mile 27.0 to 37.0; and
2. Approve the final claim for payment, as submitted by the Public Works Department to the Auditor-Controller, in the amount of $163.13, which will bring the total amount paid to 100 percent of the contract.

DISCUSSION:
This project placed 9 miles of highly reflective thermoplastic pavement striping on Kneeland Road and Freshwater Road to increase the visibility of centerlines, edge lines, and other pavement markings at night and during wet conditions.

On Aug. 15, 2017, the Board of Supervisors authorized the Clerk of the Board to advertise the above-referenced project for bids. On September 19, 2017, the county received two bids for the project. The contract was awarded to Central Striping Service, Inc., the lowest responsible bidder, on Oc.t 17, 2017. The award amount was $189,700, and contract change orders through project completion amounted to a decrease of $11,068.50.

The Department of Public Works recommends that the Board of Supervisors accept the completed contract, including all change orders approved by the Public Works Department, for this project and approve the final claim for payment.
