DISCUSSION:

The Rural County Representatives of California (RCRC) is a thirty-six member county-strong service organization that champions policies on behalf of California’s rural counties. The RCRC Board of Directors is comprised of a member of the Board of Supervisors from each of its thirty-six member counties. RCRC staff work in partnership with the Board of Directors to deliver a rural perspective when legislation and regulations are being formulated in Sacramento and Washington, D.C. Their efforts help enhance and protect the quality of life in California’s small and rural counties

Each year RCRC holds an annual meeting for its members.  During that meeting, each county donates a (basket) to be auctioned off at the event.  The proceeds are given back to the current Chair’s county and distributed to charities designated by said Chair.  This year the RCRC Chair is Supervisor Rex Bohn.  Supervisor Bohn has invited his designated charities to the Board of Supervisor meeting to acknowledge their importance to the people they serve in our community and to honor them with a donation. RCRC President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Greg Norton will be present to distribute the awarded monies.  The non-profit charities being acknowledged include: Special Olympics of Northern California, Ferndale Senior Resource Agency, Ferndale Museum, California Cancer Crushers, Mattole Valley Family Resource Center, FAAN (Families Advocating Autism Now), and Redcrest Volunteer Fire Department.  Each charity was asked to attend and receive recognition.
