RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors approve the attached Request for Budget Transfer/Adjustment in the amount of $13,900 for the Roads Division to purchase a Radar Sign in the current fiscal year.

DISCUSSION:
The Roads Division needs to purchase and install a replacement radar detection sign in McKinleyville. The original radar detection sign was damaged beyond repair in a vehicular accident on August 25, 2018. This radar sign serves as a reminder to drivers to travel at the posted speed limit and increases safety on the roadway.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
There is no impact to the General Fund. The request, if granted, will transfer $13,900 from the Roads-Heavy Equipment Use line item 1200325-2163 to the Equipment- Miscellaneous line item 1200325-8989. Initial expenses for the repair will be incurred using Roads funds. The Roads Division expects to be fully reimbursed by the party responsible for the damage.
The requested action conforms to the Board of Supervisors’ core role of providing for and maintaining infrastructure.

ALTERNATIVES TO STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS:
The Board could choose to not approve the request for budget transfer/adjustment. This is not recommended because the radar sign is needed to increase safety on the McKinleyville roadway
